another issue with buttons

I am really starting to like touch screens. I have another button issue on this phone. for the past month the home button will work when it wants to and when you are in an app and you want to get out of it it wont work or if it is in sleep. I have restored it and it hasn't been near water or anything. Now today I got out of school and I went to turn the volume up using the rocker thing on the side and it went up fine and then the thing wouldn't go off the screen. It is jammed i think cause it wont click like the down button. I dont have time to send the phone in is there anything that I can do?
