What would I need to do it? is there anything that would allow me to hook it up to a simple Composite video input television? How much would it cost?

I'd just like to be able to watch my digital movies on my Television

What computer have you got?
You can usually hook them up by using a MiniDisplay port to VGA/ DVI/ HDMI adapter then the corresponding lead to the tv, adapters can cost anything between $10 - $40 or £8 - £30, cables are usually pretty cheap.

Hope this helps.

I have a MacBook with the model id of 4,1. It's a 13", 2009 (I think)

As for the tv, it's a small projection RCA. I don't have any real means of figuring out the model number.
