• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

Add music from NAS to iMovie

I have a MacBook Pro with 10.6.5 and have recently purchased a NetGear ReadyNAS NV+.

I am in the process of transferring my iTunes library from an external harddisk to the NAS.

I have managed to point iTunes to the music folder on the NAS and stream music to my MacBook Pro. However, I noticed that I was unable to get the music to play in iMovie.

Does anyone know if this is possible? Is anybody else using a NAS to store their iTunes library and put some music into iMovie projects?

You may need to have the music on your MBP rather than on the NAS for it to be usable on iMovie, though not too sure as I don't use NAS myself.

Well, I have been able to add music from an external hdd connected with USB to Airport Express. I would assume that from a NAS it would be possible as well.

I hope so since I would hate to have to move music files around when making videos.
