I hope so. iOS Notifications are horribly designed, probably the biggest flaw in the whole OS in my opinion.

I never liked the iOS notification system. A big purplish (used to blue at some point in the past? Maybe I'm color blind…) box with a glassy veneer interrupting what you're doing.

Brings me to my next point: anybody seen how certain (if not all?) Game Center games have a slide down transparent notification with the Game Center icon and a message saying "Welcome Back, user"? I think this would be good for in-app notifications (notifications that occur when you're in an app).

Has anyone seen the HP Touch Pad's method of notifications? Top right tool bar with transparent drop down alerts which can be ignored and will disappear briefly. Or you can actually scroll through small window of specific alerts such as emails (a sideways swipe in a narrow "box" showing email titles) or text messages. It's really smooth and I sincerely hope iOS copies it in some way or another.

That's on a 9.7" screen though. On a 3.5" screen though, this might seem cumbersome.

True.
I was speaking purely for the iPad.

Hmm. I haven't quite seen how HP does notifications.

But for a 3.5" screen, I think the GameCenter notification system would work.

Maybe Apple should put a red badge in the title bar (time, battery, network info etc.) in iOS for notifications, and a user can swipe down on the home screen to view notifications. Inside an app, the GameCenter notification system would be fine. Just a thought though.

I kind of like this kind of notifications in the home screen. Seriously, we need widgets screen as well as better use of homescreen.

Looks hideous.
