mac mini ram question

Hi, i just boought a new 2010 mac mini and want to upgrade, Im not sure which would be better to do, get 1 4gb module and leave 1 1gb module in or out
or get 2x 2gb modules

im thinking if i get one 4gb module i can upgrade again in future
but im not sure if its advisable to have one module rather than paired

Paired memory sticks are not much of an issue these days. With shared RAM for graphics it can make a slight difference in speed, but I doubt it would be noticeable outside of a benchmark test.

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure the mini requires pairs of memory modules. I just bougt 8 gigs (2*4 gigs) for $109. Just camein the mail today. They are G.Skill modules from newegg, and are Apple compliant. Can't wait to get home and toss them in. For that price, why only go to 4 gigs? That's my opinion.

Why only 4 gig?:

- because $109 to some folks may be a lot of money
- may need to spend their money on other more important things than computer ram.
- or simply may not need 8 gig

I do understand what you're saying that $109 for 8 gig is pretty good...but everyone has different priorities.
