Can someone tell me how to open a window to a designated spot on the screen every time it's opened?

Example: When i open text edit it always opens under safari. I'd rather it open to the side of the screen so it doesn't hide under safari when i click on it. TIA!

Many apps will re-open in the position and size you had them when you last quit the app.

Others will not. TextEdit is one of these. You can change the size of the opening window in it's preferences. There is no option I am aware of that will allow you to change the position on the screen where it opens. I am unable to reproduce having it open behind Safari. When I open a new document from TE, it opens on top of all other apps.
