Actually many people use AE for Airport Express so that's not a problem. :)

The poster said AE, but then specifically said Airport Extreme in his posts which is why it's not making any sense to me what he's actually talking about.

Sorry I'm a numpty :p I ment Express I was tryng to get information on weather there would be a sound upgrade from using Apple Tv if the output would be better quality going through the HDMI cable as opposed to the optical cable that i'm using now.

The way my setup is currently I have and use both and the sound is identical
using the optical connection to my Integra receiver but it is nice not to have
the TV on when using the Express to stream internet radio or my iTunes library. If I want to see album art or look at my photos while listening then the
ATV comes in handy, besides filling 10g's worth of music on it if I don't happen
to have the Mac booted up for some reason.
