I tried pretty much every method in the book... Safe booting , fsck, cmnd-opn-p-r, holding opn, disconnecting hardware, and Everything else on the Mac troubleshooting page. I have an iMac 10.5.9 and I just did software update. Plz help!
Have you tried booting into your OSX install DVD, then going to Utilities > Disk Utility, click your hdd, click the First Aid tab, then click Repair Disk, once complete click Repair Disk Permissions.
This could take a while so be patient.
