It's rubbish. Honestly I hate it, it's slow and does not render well at all. Pants it is.

Windows icons. (yes, I mean MS Windows icons).

Quicktime icon
iLife suite icons
Gawker icon
Microsoft Office Mac icons
Safari (c'mon, time to change it up!)
Finder (really time to change this up!!)

First ones that come to mind are:

1. VLC
2. Yahoo Messenger
3. Photoshop (It's ok, but i miss the old feather. Photoshop evolution 1988-2009)

I thought i would post here as i didnt want to get off topic in the Desktop thread, but maybe someone has a suggestion to what to use in the VLC app ?
If robduckyworth is forthcoming for some suggestions that is ?

Good idea Brent. It needs to be something far more representative of what VLC actually does. So a movie reel with music notes or similar (yes I know it's kind of been done, but that kind of thing).

i think the hardest part is making someone instinctively know its VLC. i tried yesterday to use the traffic "reflectors" and it looked awful.

(sorry for hijacking the previous post btw guys, good idea to move it back here.)

haha i gave up in the end. i just cant think of anything! i played around with the idea of the traffic reflectors as a play symbol, but it looked naff.

any concept ideas id be happy to try out?

It actually seems to be a subtle marketing ploy, since most people download this app only because of the hideous icon so they can show it to their friends. Almost every review on macupdate is about the icon.

It reminds me of The Blob, an old horror movie with Steve McQueen.
