Hi,

I have one firewire 800 port on my iMac 27. If I was to split that into two firewire 800 ports does this reduce performance? Also, what is a good adapter you guys recommend to have two firewire 800 ports?

I suggest a firewire hub as a good starting place to look.

Any should do although I have heard that Belkin ones are good for Mac.

Hope this helps :)

We use a this and it works great for our iMac and MBP :) Don't notice any slower performance with it either, to answer your other question :) I suppose if you really get picky and check the performance there might be some loss, but it's not noticeable for us to make any difference.

Note that you can daisy chain firewire devices. And as long as they are self powered you do not need a hub. You may even be able to daisy chain several devices that are not self powered as long as they are low power devices.
