desk top and screen saver

How do i take and image from my usb flash drive and make it my desktop and or screen saver. I have an old Mac G4 867 dual mirror door.

MacBook Pro 15" 2014, 2.2GHz i7, 16GB RAM, 250GB SSD, OSX 10.9.5 - iPhone 5s 16gb
What OS is it running? OS 10.4?
If so right click your desktop click change background, then drag the picture into the small box.
