It seems the Mac beats the PC's in very category but one and that is burning CD or DVD's. On my PC's , if I wanted to burn an extact copy on the HP CD record now , I would have a choice, make exact copy. presto. same for data , etc. IN the mac, it make a copy of the image and I tried to make an exact copy and it didnt work.

Is there a 3rd party software that can do this?

No need for 3rd party software.

If you want to make an exact copy, you can use DiskUtility.
First make an image of the original, and then burn that image.
Works also for bootable CDs/DVDs.

Or you can buy Toast, which is similar to Nero on the PC. But a bootable CD/DVD copied with Toast isn't bootable anymore...at least it was that way the last time I tried.

forgive my ignorance: so the steps are diskUtility> burn image> and it ask you for a blank CD/dvd?
