Ever since I tried to install Final Cut Pro 4 on my MacBook Pro, I've been getting this message:

“/Library/Startupitems/Qmaster” has not been started because it does not have the proper security settings

Could someone please advise me on how to make this one go away? Thanks.

Have you repaired the permissions?
Disk Utility>Click on main HD>First Aid>Repair Disk Permissions

Err, and you say you tried to install it? If it isn't installed you might as well toss the file altogether.
In the Finder command+shift+g and paste in this /Library/Startupitems/
Then delete the Qmaster file and you should be good to go.
