Spotlight not searching

I am running 10.5.8 on a G5 and all of a sudden when I do a search using
spotlight, it returns nothing or just a few things and I know it should be
giving me way more results. I use this a lot to find files and I am lost
without it, any suggestions or help would be much appreciated.

For starters go into Spotlight Preferences, click on the icon and Preferences appears, and check you have not turned of all, or any, of the categories.

I did, they are all checked, what should I look into next?
