Flickering Led Backlight

I've been having quite a few issues with the backlight of my macbook lately. I have one of the 13" unibody models and I've been having issues with the backlights for a while. When I'm using it the lights flicker, and I can see some of the rows of leds turning on and off. When I press on the back of the screen it causes them to come on fully and when I let go they shut back off. Has anybody heard of this happening or have any idea what would cause that?

If the laptop is still under warranty - take it back to an Apple store and get it repaired?

It's been out of warranty for over a year now. I'm going to have to replace it myself. I can't figure out what could be in the back of the monitor that would do that

Its probably a bad connection between some wires that go into the screen (I would assume related to the inverter). When you press on the screen, you are probably reseating the wire into its connector. I would open it up and check for any bad connections.

It's the inverter. I fixed mine twice in 4.5 years, it's pretty common.

I thought the aluminum led screens didn't have inverters.

There is no inverter in the LED backlighted MacBook and MacBook Pro. The flickering may be caused by a loose or intermittent power cable to the LED row.
