MBP RAM upgrade 8GB?

I noticed on MacTracker app that my MBP (the one in my mac specs on the left) can support up to 8GB RAM, when I go to Crucial however and select my system it says it can support up to 2GB RAM in each slot (of which there are two).

So my question is can I actually upgrade to 8GB (via 2x4GB) or not?

Yes, you can upgrade to 8 GB of memory: 2 x 4 GB modules. Why the difference between what Crucial says and Mactracker? It's because Crucial strictly goes by what the machine manufacturer specifies and Apple says your machine max memory is 4 GB. However, the folks at Mactracker actually test the machines and apparently yours works with 8 GB.

NuRam from OWC is cheap and has a lifetime warranty. Got 8GB for $180 delivered. You'll have to find your specific machine of course.
Not only that - but depending on your Ram that you already have - there is an RMA at OWC so you can get a little money back (when I first looked my ram was like $50, now its down to $25)

I've got a drawer full of memory modules - going all the way back to those little guys that you used to put in the original IBM X86.

I guess I'm a pack rat but I always like to keep the old modules around for testing purposes.

Could you advise or link me to a site with the right modules? Always a little antsy that I am getting the wrong modules, don't know why, always pretty good and tech savvy, but RAM has always gone over my head
