Folder permissions

We have our corporate docs stored on a SAN with Windows file share permissions. Our primary directory for storing installers and documents for our Mac users will allow us to add, remove, and replace files without any hassle, but if we open a document directly from the share, edit it and then attempt to save it to the same directory, we receive an error that we don't have permissions to edit the file. It's been ages since I worked with Windows file permissions, so if anyone has some insight, I'd be grateful. Clients are running OS X 10.6.6.

You need to figure out how to take ownership of those files otherwise it will deny you permission. I could tell you how very easily when in Windows but have no idea how to do that thru the share process. Are you accessing a Windows server? If so, which one?
