When I close the lid on my 2010 macbook pro OS X 10.6.6 I am guessing it is going into sleep mode. When I Open firstly my skype is signed out and I must sign back in, 2nd all my open programs are closed. How can I correct this issue ?

It sounds like your MBP is going into hibernate rather than sleep mode. It shouldn't be doing that. Let's try to reset the SMC. For good measure, also reset the PRAM - NVRAM (just in case). If that doesn't work, post back and we'll see about trying something else.

Try installing Smart Sleep and reset the sleep function.
