Help diagnosing my iMac G4

2008 Mac Pro 3,1: 3.2Ghz octo
When i boot and try to launch an application it kernal panics with

system failiure cpu=0; code 00000008 unalined stack

just bought it for $25 so not a huge deal
tell me if thats not enough to go by

Could be incompatible ram. The only way to test this is pull all the ram...and only install ram you are 100% sure is compatible.

Just a guess...it could be something else as well. But kernel panics many times are hardware related...and the ram is a good place to start troubleshooting...since on an iMac G4 there really isn't much else you can replace or troubleshoot other than the hard drive (which usually doesn't cause kernel panics).

20" Intel iMac 2.4 Ghz/3G Ram/320HD, Snow Leopard. PBook G4, 1.5Ghz/1.5 Ram/250 HD, Leopard 10.5.6.
I agree it could be the ram, but I would actually start with a complete erase of the HD and a nice clean install of the OS.
Then if you get the same issue I would start looking at RAM etc.
You don't say what version OS btw, which would be helpful later down the line if there are still issues.
