my iMac seems to crash every time it gets to about 3/4 of the way of partitioning my disk for windows 7. After that I'll will lose some hard drive space because of the failed partitioning, but I have figured out how to regain that lost space (boot up with installation disc and repair disk). But I still need to install windows and it's not letting me, every time I try to install with bootcamp it just fails at the same 3/4 partitioning point. Can someone help me out?

try booting into safe mode first, and then doing the partition.
