- 4 gig of ram is plenty.
- I'm assuming plenty of hard drive space.
- The cpu cannot be upgraded.
- The graphics card might be upgradeable...but you may be surprised how much that's going to cost.
The only thing you didn't mention is what OS version it's running. It could be upgraded to OS 10.5 (if it's not already running it). But again...if you don't have an OS 10.5 install disk...one will cost you around $100-$125.
and i see on the motherboard a place to add a second processor but dont think its possible cuz i dont have the idk what you would call it chip/piece whatever that connects the cpu to the motherboard
apart from replacing the motherboard idk i guess there isnt much else to do
Well look on the bright side it did not cost anything. The 1.8GHz G5 was the very first model released and has severe limitations regarding upgrading. Have read the model previous, the 1.42GHz Dual processor MDD G4 was much faster. Apple introduced very fast the 2GHz and Dual processors to overcome the 1.8 lag.
Aah...I see...I didn't realize you had a single processor 1.8ghz Powermac G5. Most of the Powermac G5's were dual-processor models...so I wrongly assumed you had a dual processor 1.8ghz.
Again...even if you could upgrade to a dual processor (taken from another computer or sold on e-Bay)...you would be VERY surprised by how much it would cost.
If you already have OS 10.5 on it...then I think that you just need to enjoy it as is.
