NOOB Help

Ok This is my first mac i Have a iMac G3 400mhz with 384mb of ram I got it at a school auction for 7$ ok well i have the tiger install disk and when i open the disk up on the desktop and click on install the osx screen comes up and i click on restart and a error pops up about unable to boot off install disk (-2) the imac has 8.6 thanks mikey

you need to update the firmware before upgrading to os X.

Just a note:

read the read-me file first!
you need OS 9.1 or later before you update the firmware.

After you update the firmware, you will have a more reliable machine.
