Hi there,
On my MacBook Leopard 10.5.8 this morning I ran:
while working on a website locally, attempting to force the mac to use a newer version of libxml2 I had installed elsewhere. my lack of mac/unix experience shows here as it appears libxml2 is fundamental to Mac and removing this has now left me with a macbook that won't boot beyond the grey loading screen with spinning wheel.
Can anyone advise on how to fix this?
I can boot into single user mode and am able to copy data across from a usb stick if necessary (I tried copying the /usr/lib/libxml2 files from a 10.6.6 installation of mac, to no avail). I assume I need the exact lib version, in this case it appears I need libxml2 2.6.16.
Is there where I can download these files to simply copy back into usr/lib?
would it be possible to install again from source?
I sadly don't have access to the Leopard installation CD (its a work mac being used at home), and so would prefere a solution not requiring this.
Thanks in advance for any help
