So from what i can gather... Snow Leopard is 64 bit OS. so that means that dedicated 64 bit applications can use more than 4GBs of RAM. however i am wondering whether if you had more than 4GBs and you ran multiple 32 bit apps, you would still be using the memory to best use. so two 32 bit apps used 4GB each?

i am just very confused on the whole subject.

please let me know if im missing something :)

That's the way OSX works

64 bit apps can use more than 4 gig each, while, unlike Windows, 32 bit apps can use up to 4 gig each.

So even 32 bit OSX with 12 gig of ram installed could give 2 32 bit apps 4 gig each, rather than have only 3.5 gig available to the OS and all applications like 32 bit Windows.

It's all explained here
