office:mac 2011 installation problem

macbook air OS X 10.6.6
I have a brand new MacBook Air. Came with Office pre-loaded. Activation went smoothly. But when I try to use Office I get error message telling me it can't be opened and advising me to check with the developer to see if Word works with this version of OS X. Now what?

G'day and welcome to the forums.

Did you get the original Office 2011 disc with the Air? Going to be a problem to do a re-install without the disc.
