Hi all

I have a 2008 macbook unibody aluminium, 2 days ago it started up, home screen came up and then it went to sleep, it does this everytime I turn it on, it wakes from sleep for about 2 seconds them goes back to sleep again.

I have reset the ram etc, reinstalled the os, reseated the ram chips.

Has anyone else had this issue or know how to solve it?

It is no longer under waranty :'(:'(:'(:'(

No it is not connected to an external monitor, I have tried but still just goes to sleep.

I have reset everything but no change.

The weirdest thing of all is that windows runs perfectly so I dont think it can be a hardware fault???

My battery needs replacing so just wondering if that might be affecting something....

It just doesnt make sense that a machine designed to run mac os can only run windows!!:eek::eek:

Will it boot into the safe mode by holding down the shift key when booting up.

Having the same issue with a Macbook here. Model 2092.

Managed to get it to stay in Target mode, did a remote reinstall of the OS onto a new harddrive that way. But I can't get it to stay running at all. It had this issue after an attempted reinstall off the factory OS discs. I'm using 10.6 this time around. I can't get it to stay running long enough without going into sleep, to get through menus of the "first start up" pages.

System runs on external monitor and seems to work fine that way. Continues to do the sleep mode after a few seconds when using laptops lcd.

10.6 with all the updates.
