How many PINS on SCSI HD on a 8600?

Hi I want to get a bigger drive for an old 8600. I see a few cheap candidates on ebay, but I want make sure they are the correct type.
I looked on the apple support site, but they don't list the number of PINs or the type of SCSI HD.

How many PINs is the standard fast scsi controller on the 8600 motherboard? Any other type of specs I should be looking for?
How many scsi drives can I hook up per controller? (ie how is one designated a master and other a slave?)

When I had a SCSI drive, I had to buy a cheap adapter to get it to the right SCSI pinout, might be easier to find an adapter than a different drive.

I think you can have 7-8 drives per controller.

is that considered ultra scsi, or ultra wide scsi?

Yes, those adaptors can change a 80 pin drive to work in your 50 pin SCSI computer. I have no idea if it works with macs or not

Ultra wide SCSI will be 68 pin. You should be able to do some extensive research on the internet to answer all your questions. Adaptec has tons of documentation on SCSI implementation.

Some 80 pin (made for hot pluggable drives) require a LVD (low voltage differential) controller and compatable cabling, so beware if you buy a drive with that interface.
