I have a .ppt file that for some reason PowerPoint 2011 for Mac thinks is French language, even thought it's entirely in English. I tried to spellcheck, but the spellchecker flags all the English words that aren't the same in French and offers French replacements. The Language option on the tools menu is grayed out so I can't change the language back to English. Is there a way to get the Language choice back?

Open the PPT slide, click on File at the top, then click on properties. See if the original was done in French as harry has stated. If it was, you can make changes from the properties menu box. If that's not it, then you may have something setup wrong in System Preferences, Language & Text.
