Mail Client - Help

Hi,
Not sure if im posting this in the right spot for the issue but i am in need of some assistance with the mail applications for mac. The issue is that my school has a proxy set up and neither Outlook '11 or the native mail client can sync with my mailbox. Is there any way to apply the settings , and if not - is there another application that can be used thats similar?

Have you correctly applied the proxy settings in System Preferences, Network, Advanced? After doing that if the problem still exists, contact the IT folks at your school for assistance.
