Hi, i am using disc utility for the first time to backup my files. I am on Tiger still. I partitioned my main external hard drive but made an error in that i created one partition twice the size of my mac hard drive for a bootable backup when i really wanted 2 partitions at the size of my mac hard drive so i had 2 separate partitioned bootable backups.

When i try to split the bootable partition it lets me but if i close the program it doesnt save the change and if i click on partition it tells me all data on all volumes will be destroyed so my other backed up data will be lost.

Is there a way i can do this without losing my other data?

Thanks, Wix

Yes. Buy iPartition from here. A bit pricey perhaps, but it can change, move, and re-partition without data loss. Otherwise, you'll need to copy your data off to another hard drive and start the partitioning all over again.
