Hey Everyone,
I searched for this topic all over the place and only found one website that just had a description of what the function is that I am about to talk about, the website is:
Finder tries squeezing long filenames before resorting to abbreviation – Finer Things in Mac
Essentially, as you are resizing the columns in finder (and, in fact, most applications that list files), just before Finder abbreviates the file name by inserting an ellipsis (...), it will reduce the space in between each letter of the file name, thereby allowing the full file name to fit in the column in a smaller area.
Is there any way to turn this off?
