When download pictures from a camera, or digitize them from slides, they show up on my iMac, but not in iPhoto. How do I transfer them into iPhoto? One of my problems may be that I cannot find the 'library' in iPhoto. Any help appreciated.

Open iPhoto and drag-and-drop the photos into iphoto.

I didn't realize that you had to open two "windows" and then you could drag/drop. Thanks

you can also go under File>import to Library. It will open a window and you can navigate to where your pictures select the ones you would like to import.

Now the easy way. Do this once. When your camera or photo card is connected open Image Capture. Make sure your card or camera is selected on the left and then go to the little pull down menu box on bottom left. This defines what you want to happen when the card or camera is selected. Pull down the list and select iPhoto. Now close Image Capture and eject the card or camera from the computer.

Now whenever you insert card or camera, iPhoto will automatically open to a screen showing all the pictures on your device. Just click Import All. Job done.

You can also drag them to the iPhoto icon in the dock. That's the beauty of macs - you do so much in so many different ways.
