I have some good speakers left over from my PC and I want to add them to my iMac. They produce better sound than the speakers on the iMac. How do I do that? I have plugged them into the iMac, but nothing happens.

System Preferences > Sound > Output > Select external speakers if they show up.

Go into System Preferences then to the Sound option. See if you speakers are selected as your sound output.

I did not intentionally "double post" My post did not show up there when I checked. So I thought someone had decided I had tried to post the question in the wrong place, and therefore I tried this one.

I went to where you all suggested and only "internal speakers, built in" shows. So how do I get my other speakers to show up there?

Did you plug them into the right port? It's possible that you plugged it into the input port.
