10.6 Snow Leopard

Hi all

i was just wondering.. with the new Mac app store being released i was thinking of upgrading from 10.5 to 10.6 but im really confused because theres upgrades ranging from £20 all the way upto £300.. i just want to upgrade from 10.5 to 10.6, which one do i get?

The cheaper ones will be upgrade disks, where-as the more expensive ones will be full retail install disks.
Get the cheaper one as this will allow you to upgrade from 10.5 Leopard to 10.6 Snow Leopard no problems, as long as your machine supports the latest release.

One? OK, grab the single retail version of Snow Leopard for $29 USD and use it to upgrade your Leopard based Mac.

Perhaps the OP had no idea there would be a processor-related constraint, or is not even aware that the computer has a processor. But, the point about how many Macs is a valid one, although the assumption would be one.

To "pile on", a more descriptive thread title would be good. "Upgrade from 10.5 to 10.6 - Confused" would be much more illuminating.

and as for not providing relative information i am sorry, this is my first post so i am new this thing yes i have one mac and an intel processor..

i researched 10.7 Lion, worth just holding out for that? or is it too long until the release.

SL is cheap and there is no firm release date for Lion so you may as well upgrade.

Not to mention there is no guarantee you can upgrade from Leopard to Lion. It very well may require SL first.

very true, i shall just upgrade to SL.. £20 not much is it now..

SL and others

currently have leopard running 10.5.8 and the iLife 09 package. want to upgrade to SL, everything else will work just fine right? not running anything else major other than parallels (older version) but i can upgrade that if need be. iLife will work fine though right?

my plan is to do a fresh install of SL to clean things up a bit. will backup everything of importance and reinstall whatever i need to.

Well i bought Snow Leopard and you never guess what happend, i never the specified RAM of 1gb *facepalm*
so i have to think about upgrading my RAM to 1gb.. i have currently got
DDR2 SDRAM
this means that i have to buy another RAM that is DDR2 SDRAM ?

If the amount of RAM you currently have is less than 1GB, then yes you need to upgrade. And yes, you need to get DDR2 RAM.
