How can I convert dvr-ms for Apple TV?

Hello,
I bought an Apple tv to stream movies across my wifi. I have a bunch of tv recordings made in Windows Media center (dvr-ms)
I tried Handbrake to convert the videos to mpeg4, but no sound came along.
Can anyone suggest a way to convert these for ITunes?
This is my first post.
