I need help. My Macbook Pro 17" locks up without warning, usually while I am running a number of programs. Here's some of the info on the actual computer hardware, running Mac OS X 10.6.6

Model Name: MacBook Pro
Model Identifier: MacBookPro1,2
Processor Name: Intel Core Duo
Processor Speed: 2.16 GHz
Number Of Processors: 1
Total Number Of Cores: 2
L2 Cache: 2 MB
Memory: 2 GB
Bus Speed: 667 MHz

This has been an ongoing problem for a very long time, probably back to 10.5.5ish. The mouse stops moving without warning, though if I am playing music via itunes, or from the web, to my speakers connected to my airport express, the music continues to play. Otherwise, I lose complete control over saving anything I was working on, other than simply being able to see clearly everything on the screen / for eg, no blue screen, dark screen, nothing - just frozen in a standstill.

Using Console, I was able to find the messages to pinpoint what looks to be the problem, but does anyone have an idea of what steps I can take to keep this from continuing to happen?

Can someone help solve this. It looks like it may be something to do with iTunes, but I have no idea what to do. Thanks!
