Hi,

I've got a 13" MacBook (late 2006). I believe the model is MA700LL/A (this is what support told me over the phone and it matches some documentation online) though my System Profiler only lists it as "MacBook2,1".

I'm hoping to upgrade my hard drive from 80 gb to 320 gb but hope somebody can tell me if this will be supported. The guy at Apple support said I can only go to 160 gb (which I believe is because it was the top of the line option at time of purchase). I also found this support page (MacBook (Late 2006) - Technical Specifications) backing up the 160gb @ 5400 rpm, or 200 gb @ 4200 rpm.

The only thing similar I've seen on the forums is here (http://www.mac-forums.com/forums/ap...k-late-2006-13-hard-drive-capacity-limit.html) but it is an older post and relatively unresolved/speculative.

I understand that the physical drive will fit but I'm hoping somebody can definitively say what the capacity limit is for my model (or at least it will recognize up to 320 gb).

Thanks

Your Mac's Specs
15" MBP '06 2.33 C2D 4GB 10.7; 13" MBA '14 1.8 i7 8GB 10.11; 21" iMac '13 2.9 i5 8GB 10.11; 6S
Any Intel Mac can use any hard drive as long as it is the proper size and type.

You need a 2.5" SATA drive - (9.5mm in height - that would be any 2.5" drive except the current gen 1TB drives which I believe are all 12.5mm in height).

I would recommend the WD Blue if you're going to stay with 5400rpm or pick up some speed and go for the 7200rpm WD Black or the Hitachi in a 320GB or 500GB sizes.
