Windows, Firefox & pdf

XP all updates & the latest FF 3.6.13.

I open pdf links from several online sites all day. I want to click a pdf and have it auto open. In the browser - out of the browser - don't care.

No stinking popup every time asking whether I want to save it, open it, where to open it, or what to open it with. Just open the file.

How to do that?

Options - Applications is already set to use Adobe Reader 9.4 for all pdf types.
I have multiple computers - all do the same. One of them is used for nothing but e-mail and opening online pdf documents all day.

Yes, I already have the box checked next to 'Do this automatically for files like this from now on'.

If you go to the Add-On manager > Plugins, is Adobe Reader there and more importantly, is it enabled?

If that is enabled, open up Reader > Edit > Preferences > Internet > make sure "Display PDF in Browser" is checked.

Did all that. Upgraded to Adobe X and looks like it's a site issue. Just went to a couple of manufacturer support sites and their pdfs open up fine.

The ones we use here are all industry related, member only, https sites.
None of these will open a pdf without the popup.

Ahh well mate it sure keeps Adobe's name to the fore with you eh?

Hmmm, have you tried this Google Docs Viewer extension (assuming you're okay with Google Docs)?

After a quick search, it appears that the issue may actually be the https. Some people report having issues with IE8, PDFs and HTTPS (see here and here) and although you're not using IE8, perhaps the issue is caused by the https as well.
