Not if you burn it with iMovie, no. You'd be better off importing the VHS tape and then burning the video files onto a DVD using the Finder. He won't be able to watch the video in a DVD player, but he could copy them onto his PC and edit them.
If you burn it using iMovie, he would need to rip the DVD again, which is usually much more time-consuming and tricky.

Yes, but I think that the normal EyeTV products only give you a co-ax connection to the VCR.
