Hi,
My iMac makes very soft but audio able noise.

Example:
Noise..pause..noise..pause.

I believe its coming from the back-sounds like a fan?

But when I first ran it, it hardly had any noise..

Help is appreciated.

Could be a fan or power supply but I'd suggest, being intermittent like that, it's probably the hard disk.

May not help, but a very recent contributor to this forum finally discovered it was "vibration", cured by placing a towel or similar under the iMac stand. Just a thought.
