They look similar but Dells computer has a different swivel/stand. But do you think Apple is ever really going to use that patent? Just a thought.

They just might not. But I'm sure Apple will bring out all the lawyers even in someone infringes on an Apple patent that Apple had no intention of using. Also it could be a red herring. Make the other tech companies, invest in something Apple will never release while Apple can spend the money of worthwhile tech.

lets face it, if Apple came out with a set of electric boxcutters called icut, it would be a huge hit.
and it would be very walled garden.
and it could be improved.
and it will be quite expensive.

Apple has a great power to bring life to old and discarded ideas, but like every other company in the world, they have their flaws which makes for an easy flood of different companies to come in and offer their own version of the ideas.

Some of the things Apple has changed for the industry is that every company is trying to
make their product asthetically pleasing instead of cramming the goods in a mundane box. Easier to use and integrate into a system things people have obviously wanted for a
long time judging from their profit margins.

That is, if I am completely honest, one of the things that attracted me to even looking at Apple. Everything I need to do on a computer, can be done on a PC or a Mac. But looking at computers, these machines are just clean, and beautiful. They last a very long time, they don't clutter up your workspace, and they are attractive. I don't care what anyone says, I would much prefer to do my work looking at this machine, than my old PC. It's like coming home to a clean house, vs. a dirty one. Both do the job. You are covered, you're warm, they hold all your stuff. I'd much rather come home to a clean house and get right to whatever I want to do, than get there and spend hours getting through/cleaning up clutter before I can just get to what I want.

Even the Box that your Mac comes in is well thought out and designed. Compared to some of the boring windows/linux only machines boxes. It really shows the different focus Apple has to the rest of the industry. And this focus seems to work vey well.

Lets be honest, everyone is going to sue apple anyway they can as there is wehre the money is at. A few years ago apple where a joke and now their king - Dell are just jealous of apple's creativity.
