Communicating between MacBook Pros

I have two MacBook Pro laptops. Sometimes, I would be working in an application (eg. MS Word) and I would want to pull up a file that is stored on the other laptop.

Is there a way for me to access files on my one MacBook Pro while working on the other machine besides using a memory stick to get it off the other machine?

Go to System Preferences>Internet and Wireless>Sharing
Select File Sharing to On
Select What Folders and which users can share those folders.
