He was smoking something if he thought Win 7 would half Apple's share in a few short months

Too many...
~10% share down to 5% just because of windows 7? Unless they were to give out computers for free...hey, could've happened, they did give away W7P's(!)...I'm not really seeing how he thought it was going to happen.

With Lion coming up, how much will it drop the Windows 7 market share?

The introduction of Win 7 from Microsoft confirmed my decision to migrate to the Mac platform. :D

In Windows 7's defence it's actually a rather good OS. The next XP in my opinion. Vista as tripe that should have never have been released. I don't think Windows 7 is better than SL or Lion will be. But W7 does get the job done.

I have to agree with you. IMO, W7 is a very slick OS. I have it on a netbook and enjoy using it very much. As far as Vista goes, I am running it on my office PC, and it is nowhere near the dog it was when it was released. In fact with SP2 and all updates installed, I actually enjoy using Vista. Bottom line for me: W7 is not "better" or "worse" than OS X, but to each his own.

I think W7 is a good OS, but not near as good as OS X. Am I the only one who sees a striking similarity between the two? I feel as if a 12 year old took a paper and pen and drew the opening page for OS X and gave it to engineers who made it into W7. That could be just me though. I think I will like Lion. I will definitely want to use a computer with it installed before I purchase it.

his predictions are very flawed...
its like saying that because I'm sitting at my desk right now, I'll still be sitting here 3 months later and that I'm going to soon starve to death.

I'm also curious to see how the next Apple OS will fare. I'm not sure if I'm going to upgrade right away or not like I did with Snow Leopard, but I will eventually.

Agreed. Win7 just brought Windows back up to where they left off with XP. I still have XP installed on Bootcamp, but I do like Win7 that's on my Netbook.

There seems to be quite a future in making incorrect predictions about technology given some of these tech writers track records. I have very little interest in the opinions of tech pundits/fanboys, sports writers and chair-bourne rangers. I'm betting there is plenty of room in the world for OS X, Windows, Linux, etc...
