MacBook Black will not turn off help!!!!!

recently i installed a new western digital 500Gb HD and when i shut it down a blue screen appears with a little loading wheel and thats it. it just dose that until it runs out of battery or if i hold down the power button.
any help will be much appreciated!

Well first I would run Disk Utility off the installation DVD or Onyx to check the SMART status if you can get it to boot.
