Hi guys!

I posted earlier, but I think that I might have confused someone with all my text.

I have a Mac Pro DESKTOP A1289, there is no operating system on it right now.

I have bought a new retail Snow Leopard DVD as of today, when I insert the disc and hold down C or ALT (and choose DVD), it will just spin up quickly, read it, and then spin down again. I am then stuck with a grey screen with an Apple on it. Nothing happens after this.

What am I doing wrong?

I have no access to original installation discs.

Try blowing some air into the DVD drive, it might just need a clean out.

Also make sure it is connected properly

A1289 could be any number of machines, some of which require 10.6.4 as a minimum.

Call Apple and see about ordering the correct installation discs for your machine.
