You may be able to us VLC to do it... But that is more a guess than anything else.

Most ways I know of doing it require a PC... Or at least Virtual PC to convert it back to an earlier codec with something like Virtualdub or this http://versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/win/41112.

Not sure, but FFmpegX might be able to do it... maybe not though...

FlipforMac will let you play them in Quicktime, but it's not free. You can export it to avi or whatever from Quicktime. However, it can't play some of the newer codecs.
