Snow Leopard 10.6

Hi I was just given an older iMac with 10.4. With doing some research I purchased 2-1gb ram.

I need snow leopard 10.6 to have latest version for this machine. This is my first Mac.

Where can I buy full box of snow leopard 10.6 less expensive than getting it from Apple?

$29 from Apple is too expensive?

Apple's prices are pretty standard, you aren't going to find it cheaper.

Are you in the USA?

Just pop down to a computer store like PC world or the Apple store

Snow Leopard costs $29 where ever you choose to buy it. That is one bargain OS price (compare to buying Windows) and is so cheap no one is discounting that price

Not sure exactly what model iMac you have...but if it doesn't have an Intel cpu...you cannot run Snow Leopard (OS 10.6).

I know where you're coming from Apple sort of makes it very confusing for users to have a $29 10.6 install disk (that doesn't check for a previously installed version of the OS)...and then have the Mac Box Set (which sort of forces you to purchase iLife & iWork)...even if you don't want them.

On the plus side...Apple has reduced the price of the Mac Box Set from $169 to $129...$129 being the previous OS upgrade price for 10.5...and I think 10.4 (or at least close to $129). So now if you buy the Mac Box Set for $129 (similar price for a previous OS upgrade only)...it's sort of like getting iWork & iLife for free.

Double check what Nick had advised you. Snow Leopard will install only on an Intel model iMac. Always helps if you provide model and processor details.

If you are talking about the boxed set with ILife and iWork try Amazon. It's a bit lower there.

I will also echo what others have said. What iMac do you own? Is it an older one or Intel?
