Hi. Happy Christmas. :)

I have an old imac 1.6 PowerPC G5 using 10.4.11 512 MB of RAM 1.6GHz

I have got an ipod touch for Christmas but *ugger it turns out I need 10.5.8 or better to run it.

On the apple page Mac OS X 10.5 - Technical Specifications I seem ok for most of it but not sure about requirement of "DVD drive for installation".

All I know is I can watch DVDs on my imac. Dumb question is: is that all I need for installation? Not sure what to look for in System Profiler.

Yes that iMac can run OS 10.5 (latest version is 10.5.8). It would probably be a good idea to upgrade the ram as well...512meg is a little low.;)

Here's the system requirements for 10.5:

Definitely upgrade to 1GB of RAM, or more if you can, and want to.
