Microsoft Excel issue - is this common?

Hey all,

Whenever I try to open an excel spreadsheet, excel tells me that "Harddrive could not be found - please check spelling of the file name and verify that the location is correct."

I'm not sure what to do. Has this happened to anyone else?
I am using office 2008.

It could be to do with the read/ write permissions in place where you are opening the spreadsheet from. Try moving the file to your desktop and opening it there to see if the problem still persists. Let us know the outcome.
