I am a Macbook user of about 4 years now, and my current computer is about two years old. Recently I started feeling like it's would benefit from some extra RAM. I currently have two 1 GiB DDR2 SDRAM on a 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Processor. What I want to know is if I can add 2 GiB of DDR3 SDRAM or if I'm stuck with DDR2. Can I replace the DDR2 with DDR3?

(It's a 13'' Black Unibody model if that helps any)

Welcome to Mac-Forums

If you could supply more info about your computer that would be much help i.e macbook or imac etc also if you have the model number or exactly what year and if it was late/ mid/ early that year. Then I will be able to provide the info for you.
Or you could download Mac Tracker available here: Mactracker
then click on "This Mac" it will give you all the info you need including amount of RAM supported, year made, highest OS installation possible etc

No, it's not compatible and will not fit or work. You need DDR2. And since your machine only has two slots, you will need to remove both 1 GB modules and replace them with 2 GB modules. That will give you 4 GB.

Best places to buy memory is either from Crucial or OWC.
